SMIC Receives Supplier Award from Qualcomm

SHANGHAI, Dec. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation ("SMIC"; NYSE: SMI; SEHK: 0981.HK), China's largest and most advanced semiconductor foundry, today announced its receipt of a 1 billion unit product milestone award from customer Qualcomm Incorporated in a ceremony held at SMIC's Shanghai headquarters.

Qualcomm, the world leader in 3G and next-generation mobile technologies, gave the award to SMIC in recognition of its excellent track record of support for Qualcomm's power management processor. During the multi-year collaboration, SMIC has achieved over 1 billion unit shipments of power management processors with an outstanding delivery record over the past year.

Prior to today's award, SMIC also earned Qualcomm's "Mixed Signal Foundry of the Year" award in 2007, as well as a "Continued Excellence Award" for power management support in 2009.
